Time to Register for 2026 Summer Camp!

Yep! It’s time for camp. Time to get together and see old friends, make new ones and have fun.  We are excited to see you.

  • In the tri-county area, we are offering 4 weeks of camp (two in July and two in August) at Holy Family School (7425 SE Cesar Chavez Blvd., Portland 97202). Like in past years, there will be two sessions each day, based upon age.
      - For campers (K-8) camp meets from 9 AM to 12 PM
      - For campers (high school through transition) camp meets from 1 PM to 4 PM
  • Cost is $250 per camp. Like many families, Bustin’ Barriers has been impacted by the economy. In order to remain viable and provide a meaningful, fun experience for campers, we must raise our rate. However, we also remain committed to making camp accessible and are offering 25%, 50% and 75% discounts to families who need them.
  • We are looking forward to camp. It is an opportunity to have fun, be with others, create new memories and even bust a personal barrier.  (Yes, it really happens!)
  • Please note: BB has an opportunity to offer two camps in Woodburn this summer. These camps will occur at Washington Elementary School (777 East Lincoln Street, Woodburn 97071). The camps are half-day but differ in that there is only one session per day (9AM to noon) and all ages attend the same camp.  There is a separate registration form. Camp costs are the same and tuition discounts, for families that need them, are offered at these camps - which are held in June.

P.S. Please remember that the Physical Clearance form provides important contact information as well as helps us get to know your child. For your convenience, the Physical Clearance form is now included with your registration form.

Dear Communication Disability Community, The Communication Social Project is a community initiative focused on supporting people with communication disabilities in social interactions with a specific emphasis on sport, music, art, and recreation. communication disability community together.
There is a spark when a child with a disability gets to do something cool and communicate
about it. Youth with communication disabilities want meaningful things to do and talk about, which
builds their social competence. This shared community project targets that outcome directly

through: 1. Community engagement and collaborations, 2. Youth social experiences, and 3. Volun-
teerism.

This Winter and Spring, we plan to host a series of basketball game outings, including Blaz-
ers and PSU. This year, we will host a special Mountain day featuring adaptive snow sports and a

day at the beach with adaptive water sports. These are designed as signature events, creating

massive action towards better awareness about communication disability and about what is possi-
ble. Our plan is that these Communication Social events are designed as All PSU events, so that

we engage the community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni at an unprecedented level. Con-
cretely, as we take our first steps forward we look to restore our AAC Design Council. Pursuant to

the national AAC Peer Support Consortium’s summary recommendations, people with disabilities
will co-lead the project through an advisory council system. We invite

Bustin’ Barriers Testimonials

“Bustin Barriers is a special program. Connection, compassion, inclusion and laughter abound. Supported and respected, our experience has taken us from isolation to acceptance, awkwardness to confidence. This year my child leaps from camper to junior coach. Everything is possible.”

J Perri, Parent

“My children look forward to camp every summer. Bustin Barriers provides an invaluable safe place to practice interaction and participation with peers, those experiencing disability and those who are not disabled.”
