Dear Communication Disability Community, The Communication Social Project is a community initiative focused on supporting people with communication disabilities in social interactions with a specific emphasis on sport, music, art, and recreation. The primary purpose of the Communication Social Project for 2026 is to bring the

communication disability community together.
There is a spark when a child with a disability gets to do something cool and communicate
about it. Youth with communication disabilities want meaningful things to do and talk about, which
builds their social competence. This shared community project targets that outcome directly

through: 1. Community engagement and collaborations, 2. Youth social experiences, and 3. Volun-
teerism.

This Winter and Spring, we plan to host a series of basketball game outings, including Blaz-
ers and PSU. This year, we will host a special Mountain day featuring adaptive snow sports and a

day at the beach with adaptive water sports. These are designed as signature events, creating

massive action towards better awareness about communication disability and about what is possi-
ble. Our plan is that these Communication Social events are designed as All PSU events, so that

we engage the community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni at an unprecedented level. Con-
cretely, as we take our first steps forward we look to restore our AAC Design Council. Pursuant to

the national AAC Peer Support Consortium’s summary recommendations, people with disabilities
will co-lead the project through an advisory council system. We invite

Respite is Back!

Register Now and We’ll See You Soon

Our popular respite program returns for the Fall session.  Here are the details:

When: Our Fall respite/soccer program runs from October 12th - November 2nd.  The program takes place on Sunday mornings from 9 AM to 11 AM.

Where: Oregon Premier Futsal, 12402 SE Jennifer Street, Suite #190B, Clackamas, OR 97015

Cost: $45 (scholarships available based upon need)

What to Bring:  a labeled water bottle (and snack, if needed).  Wear clothes that are comfortable for running and jumping around.

• You may want to tell a classmate, who also experiences disability about this program.  All kids deserve the opportunity to be active and have fun.
