Website Accessibility Statement

Bustin’ Barriers is committed to providing an accessible website to the widest possible audience. We will do our best to continually review options that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.

Standards Compliance

In keeping with our commitment to accessibility, we have designed our website’s standards to adhere to implementation of the regulations of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AAA and the Web Accessibility Initiative Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA) 1.0 techniques for web content.

Text Attributes

We have selected fonts that are widely accepted by computer browsers, (and/or we provide backup fonts that are more widely used), and display them in relative sizes so users can magnify or reduce the font sizes as needed, (Ctrl + and Ctrl -, respectively for PC users. Command + and Command - for Mac users).

Page titles are displayed in a larger font size than the rest of a page’s body for easy identification. Additional information about how to change your computer or browser’s fonts and colors can be found by clicking here.

Colors

We use colors throughout the site that offer a high contrast to the white or gray backgrounds. For example, links appear in dark red, while buttons typically feature a yellow background with dark text (or vice versa). Standard content, i.e., text that is not clickable, is shown in black. Many of our pages are able to be viewed in an alternative contrast mode, by clicking a link the page sidebar that says “Darken Page Color Scheme.”

Images

We rely on the use of images to convey information or showcase Bustin’ Barriers’ activities, volunteer opportunities, and partners. Our goal is for all of the images used on this site to include alternative text that describes the images.

Navigation

We have included certain drop-down menu features to make it easier for people relying on keystroke navigation to get where they wish to go. Our top menu bar can be navigated using a mouse, keyboard, and/or touchscreen. We also include skip-links and :focus styles for ease of navigation. An outlined map of our website is also available here.

PDF Documents

If you rely on a screen reader, screen magnifier, or similar program, you may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print PDF files. We rely on PDF’s to preserve the formatting and content of our publications and those of our partners. For details on how PDF files can be translated to text for screen readers, visit access.adobe.com, Adobe Reader Accessibility, and Acrobat DC.

Our website may contain links to websites of other nonprofit, business, or government entities. These links are intended to be resources only and are not part of Bustin’ Barriers’ services or programs.
