Bustin Barriers benefits from the skills and spirit of generosity of its volunteers.  During the 2016 season, volunteers (teen/peer coaches) provided over 700 hours of service to Bustin Barriers.  Our volunteers include individuals who have disabilities and work alongside their non-disabled peers. We also have adult volunteers who assist with activities. Camp and program volunteers are screened and undergo training on different conditions and adapted techniques.

We believe that each one of us has value and that we learn from one another.  As a community we grow and evolve from our interactions - individually and collectively.

We are looking for people who:

  • are willing to volunteer in areas where they are knowledgeable as well as willing to learn new things
  • are punctual, dependable and kind
  • able to attend a training session(s) to learn about physical activity adaptations, behavior strategies and program protocols

All volunteers must complete and submit a volunteer application. Youth 18 and Under must submit a signed "18 and Under Youth Application". Please note that this application also requires parent signature on some pages. Adults complete complete the Adult Form. All volunteers over 18 are background checked prior to volunteering at Bustin Barriers. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Bustin Barriers.

If you have any questions about volunteering or forms, please call 503-869-7112 and speak with Andrew Yoshihara, Bustin Barriers' Executive Director.
