4th Annual Adapted Basketball Tournament
On February 18th, athletes from Portland and Multnomah County came to Cleveland High School for Bustin Barriers' 4th Annual Basketball Tournament. Representing their high schools and transition programs, athletes ran, wheeled their way, or joined forces with an aide to take to the court and play basketball. It was a spirited day: sports, competition, sportsmanship and fun.
Cleveland High School, from administrators to students, were wonderfully supportive of the event - providing gym space and set up, coaching, announcing and refereeing. Students, parents and community members cheered the athletes on. For many of the athletes, it was an opportunity to compete and see old friends - especially for those students who have transitioned from high school to transition programs. From morning warm-ups to the final games in mid-afternoon it was a great day for athletes, their schools and the community. It was also a great day for Cleveland alum and Bustin Barriers' Board member, Mikeal Diamond, who ran up and down the court as a referee and alum Avery Mitchell, Emcee Extraordinaire! We thank all our supporters and the athletes for a tournament well played. Click on the 3rd Annual Adapted Tournament page to view the fun.
